CHG&S 2026 Opening Party - “There Will Come Soft Rains”
We’re excited to invite you to the opening of The Courthouse Gallery & Studios’ 2026 exhibition programme, an evening that sets the tone for a year of bold, urgent, and imaginative work.
Taking its title from Sara Teasdale’s 1920 poem (later inspiring Ray Bradbury’s There Will Come Soft Rains, set in 2026), this year’s programme reflects on human fragility, nature’s endurance, and a future where we may no longer be the centre of the story.
But rather than accepting collapse as inevitable, CHG&S 2026 explores resilience, reckoning, and renewal—and the power of artists to imagine resistance, agency, and alternative futures.
To mark the launch, we’ll screen Fritz Lang’s iconic 1927 silent film Metropolis, a dystopian vision of the year 2026, accompanied by a live contemporary score featuring synthesisers, violin, guitar, and pedal steel by
Gareth Quinn Redmond, Jürgen Simpson & Simon O’Reilly.
Music and celebration continue into the night.
