Venue Hire & Event Rates
The Courthouse Gallery & Studios (CHG&S) offers flexible spaces for meetings, workshops, classes, talks, launches, performances, community events and private or corporate functions.
As a community-focused visual arts organisation, we offer reduced room hire rates for voluntary and charitable organisations and small enterprises.
Standard hire hours: Monday–Saturday, 9.30am–5.00pm.
Evening, Sunday and out-of-hours events can be accommodated by arrangement.
Please note that CHG&S is primarily a visual arts gallery with a continuous exhibition programme. Use of the Main Gallery is therefore subject to the nature of the event being compatible with the exhibition on display.

Additional Services & Event Charges
Where possible, staffing, equipment and additional service requirements will be identified in advance and included in your event quotation. The rates set out below form the basis of CHG&S's pricing for these services.
Where additional services, equipment or staff are requested by the hirer, or become reasonably necessary for the safe and effective operation of the event, these may be provided and charged at the applicable published rate. This may include additional staff hours, technical support, equipment, cleaning, waste management or other event-related requirements that were not anticipated in the original quotation.
Any additional charges will be itemised on the final invoice. Where practicable, CHG&S will discuss additional requirements and associated costs with the hirer before they are incurred. However, where immediate action is reasonably necessary for safety, venue protection or the effective operation of the event, CHG&S reserves the right to provide the necessary staff or services and charge accordingly.
Event Staffing & Technical Support
Staffing requirements depend on the size, format, opening hours and technical complexity of your event. We will advise on the appropriate level of staffing as part of your quotation.
Front of House & Event Support
€25 per hour | €200 full day
Suitable for guest reception, room preparation, audience management, refreshments, general event support and opening/closing the venue.
A minimum booking of 2 hours applies. Front of House staffing will normally be required for public events outside our regular gallery opening hours and may also be required for larger or more complex events.
Technical Support
€40 per hour | €300 full day
Suitable for AV setup, projection, microphones, basic sound setup, equipment operation and general technical assistance.
A minimum booking of 2 hours applies. Technical requirements should be discussed in advance so that we can determine the appropriate equipment and level of support.
Sound Engineer / Specialist Event Technician
€500 per day
For live music, performances and technically complex events requiring a professional sound engineer or specialist technician to set up, soundcheck, operate and manage the event's technical systems.
Shorter calls may be available by arrangement. Specialist or additional technical personnel can also be sourced where required.
Event Management, Curation & Administration
€500 per day
For events requiring significant advance planning, production, curation, administration, scheduling, supplier liaison, event coordination or on-site event management.
Routine administration associated with a standard venue booking is included as part of the booking process. This additional rate applies where CHG&S is providing substantial event-management, production, curatorial or administrative services on behalf of the hirer.
For smaller requirements, administrative or event-management support may be quoted on a time basis. A minimum booking of 2 hours applies.
Event Photographer
€800 per day
Professional event photography can be arranged subject to availability and the requirements of the event. Shorter assignments can be quoted on request.
Photography & Filming: Professional or commercial photography, filming and organised photoshoots within the gallery require prior written permission from CHG&S. Additional conditions or charges may apply, particularly where current exhibitions or artworks are included.
Making the Most of Your Event Staff
Where possible, we avoid unnecessary duplication of staffing. A single Front of House staff member may, for example, be able to manage guest reception, refreshments, room preparation and general event support within the same booking.
For larger audiences, technically complex events or events with significant catering, access or audience-management requirements, additional personnel may be required.
Where possible, staffing requirements will be identified and agreed with the hirer in advance. CHG&S reserves the right to require additional staff or services where these become reasonably necessary for the safe, effective or appropriate operation of an event, with any additional costs charged at the applicable rate.
Hirer-Managed Events
Not every booking requires CHG&S event staff. Small meetings, classes, workshops and private pre-booked activities may be operated independently by the hirer where this has been agreed with us.
Where an event is operated without CHG&S staff, the hirer must be able to demonstrate that they have the appropriate experience, personnel and arrangements in place to operate the event safely and responsibly.
Depending on the nature and scale of the event, CHG&S may require the hirer to provide:
- an appropriate event plan or method of operation;
- a suitable risk assessment and health & safety plan;
- evidence of appropriate public liability and other relevant insurance;
- details of the person responsible for the event on the day;
- appropriate child safeguarding or vulnerable-person policies, where applicable;
- adequate arrangements for first aid, emergency procedures, fire safety and evacuation;
- appropriate supervision, stewarding or audience management;
- evidence that any external contractors, performers, caterers or technical suppliers are suitably qualified and insured where appropriate; and
- any licences, permissions or other documentation required for the proposed activity.
The hirer is responsible for the conduct and safety of their event, participants, contractors and guests for the duration of the hire.
CHG&S reserves the right to require and appoint Front of House, technical, event-management or other appropriate staff where we consider this necessary for the safe, effective and appropriate operation of an event. Staffing requirements will normally be identified during the booking process; however, CHG&S retains the right to require additional staffing should the nature, scale or requirements of an event make this necessary. Any associated staffing costs will be charged at the applicable rate.
Public events, large gatherings and technically complex events will be assessed individually and may require CHG&S or approved professional staff as a condition of hire.

Cleaning & Waste
A cleaning and waste management charge may apply depending on the nature and scale of the event:
€50–€100 per event
This covers additional cleaning, refuse and recycling associated with events beyond normal gallery use. The applicable charge will normally be identified as part of your quotation.
Events generating unusually large quantities of waste, requiring specialist cleaning or leaving the venue in a condition requiring additional cleaning may incur further charges. Any such costs will be itemised on the final invoice.
How Your Event Cost Is Calculated
We aim to keep event pricing as straightforward and transparent as possible:
Room Hire
+ Equipment / AV required
+ Staffing required
+ Catering / Refreshments
+ Cleaning & Waste (where applicable)
= Estimated Event Cost
For example, a small private workshop may require only room hire. A public evening event might require room hire + PA + Front of House staff + cleaning.
We will work with you to identify the services and equipment your event is likely to require and include these in your quotation wherever possible. If additional requirements arise before or during the event, these will be charged at the applicable rate and itemised on your final invoice.
Community Pricing
Our published room rates already include reduced rates for voluntary groups, charitable organisations and mini enterprises. We do support a number of community and arts events These are dealt with on a case by case basis usually through our open calls and community partnerships.
Booking
Every event is different, so we recommend sending us a short outline of what you are planning. We can then advise on the most appropriate space, equipment and staffing and provide a clear quotation.
A quotation is based on the information supplied at the time of enquiry and the anticipated requirements of the event. Additional equipment, staffing, services or other requirements requested or required subsequently may be added to the final invoice at the applicable rate.
A deposit is required once a booking has been agreed and confirmed. Full booking, cancellation, insurance and hire conditions are provided with the booking documentation.
