"Flooded Plains"Paula Kearney
Oil paint on canvas, 60 x 40cm
Paula Kearney is a Wicklow-based painter whose career in art has spanned over 30 years. Educated in Fine Art at DIT and NCAD in Dublin, she has exhibited and taught art in Ireland and abroad, including extended periods in Singapore and Dubai. Kearney’s recent paintings are expressive semi-abstract landscapes that evoke the Irish coast and countryside – as seen in her 2024 solo exhibition “A Sense Of The Place” at Signal Arts Centre. Earlier in her career she worked figuratively, and her stylistic evolution now blends bold color and gestural marks with hints of underlying structure. A regular participant in major annual shows (her work appeared in the 2024 RHA Annual Exhibition), Kearney remains an influential figure in contemporary Irish painting, known for capturing the subtle “sense” of place in her work.
