Gillian Kenny Shinnors is an Irish painter from Limerick City, known for her evocative oil paintings that draw on vintage photographs and local history. She earned her BA at Limerick School of Art & Design and an MFA at Ulster University Belfast, and in 2000 won the Countess Markievicz Medal for Painting. Kenny Shinnors has exhibited extensively: from EV+A and Limerick City Gallery (including a major solo show in 2008) to international exhibitions in London, New York, and Toronto. Her work, described by critic Aidan Dunne as “crisply and expertly painted,” often explores memory and place through a contemporary lens on traditional technique.
